Hello and welcome to I Went Somewhere!
First of all, the pictures in this story alone should make you want to start planning this amazing adventure!
This North African country looks incredible, so let's learn more about Morocco!
Hello! Tell us a little bit about you and where you traveled to?
Hey guys 😊
My name is Michelle from Switzerland 🇨🇭🧀, but everyone calls me Shelly.
Recently I traveled with my partner to Morocco 🇲🇦 and I absolutely loved it!
How great was the trip?
So we flew into Marrakech, stayed there for a little more than a week and after we travelled to Essaouira, the „fishermencity“ 🐟
All in all the trip took us 2 weeks and gave us incredible adventures! 🔥
What did you do while you were there?
I will simply provide you guys a bullet list with the must do‘s we did around Marrakech and Essaouira 😊 you will find all the tips as photos as well!
watch the sunset from a rooftop bar on the main square
get lost in the souks
visit one of the many museums around
go Horseriding on the beach on sunset ☀️
go Quad Riding
watch the sunset from the old town (sunsets are amazing there)
visit the fish market with all their blue boats
Ride a camel on the beach
How did you learn and prepare for this trip?
Well to be honest i just booked a flight and the first night in a hostel. I am not really into planning and mostly this works super well for me 😉
Where did you stay?
I stayed at @thecentralhouse in Marrakech and I would highly recommend this hostel. It is big, has a pool, good food, looks amazing and is as central as the name is 😉
Where and what did you eat?
If you visit Morocco, make sure you try a „Tagine“. They are super delicious. My absolute fav. was the lemon-chicken tagine. Oh, how i miss it… if one of you by any chance can cook a tagine.. hit me up 😍
How much did it cost?
So over all the country is pretty cheap to travel to and offers a lot to discover for free or a small amount of money. If you stay in hostels and share a room with others, you can easily save some money 💲
Would you go back and do it again?
Oh I would 100% go back. I travelled to a lot of places already. But this one is so special, because you visit the most calm and beautiful gardens and seconds later you are back on a busy street with hieps of people.
Advice for people planning to do something similar?
This place is safe to travel to as a woman. Just be careful with your money, cuz in the crowded areas there could be pickpockets. Everyone will try to sell you something. So just be aware of that fact. I knew in advance and didn‘t get bothered about it.
The buses are supper good to travel from one place to the other and they are as well comfortable. Just make sure you book your ticket at least one day in advance. They are sold out super quick.
Don‘t book a camel tour in Marrakech. Rather ride it on the beach. You save yourself hours of driving 😉
If you guys have any questions, don‘t hesitate to hit me up on insta. There‘s a highlight reel where you can get as well some more intel!
Save travels to y‘all 🤙🏻 Shelly
